2. To- The word following to is a reason or why an action is being done. An action is usually mentioned before this usage of the word.

I am going to help to make a difference. The first usage of to, means an action, while the second, underlined to doesn't actually show an action. It shows the reason for something.

I donated to make a big difference. Donated in this sentence is actually an action, the to in this sentence, shows why he did it.

The deer runs to escape. Runs is the action, escape is the reason.

The children study to learn. Studying is an action, learning is the purpose or reason for doing it.
